Are you feeling lost and uncertain about the way your life is going? Do you wish you had someone to talk to but are afraid of asking for help because someone may not understand you or accept you for who you are?

At Tenacity Mindset, we take an affirmative therapy approach. This style of therapy is an approach that embraces a positive view of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQIA+) identities and relationships and addresses the negative influences that homophobia, transphobia and heterosexism have on the lives of LGBTQ clients

We want you to know that as our client, we support you and your family. We treat loving couples, families, and all people with the dignity, respect and affirmation they deserve. You are fine just the way you are!

What are some of those most common mental health issues plaguing the LGBTQ community?

  • Substance abuse – Those within the LGBTQ community are 2.5x more likely to suffer from depression, anxiety and substance abuse.
  • Suicide – People within the LGBTQ community have much higher rates of suicide than their peers.
  • Bullying – Many young people are victims of bullying and cyber bullying at higher levels than their peers.
  • Relationship issues – Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer people often face the challenge of being their authentic self in relationships and have difficulty finding someone to love them for who they are as they are.

There is no denying that mental health issues present at higher rates and manifest differently in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer people than in others. Often LGBTQ people minimize or don’t recognize their own emotional pain. This results in them bottling up their emotions, which often leads to a manifestation of a physical disease or illness, such as high blood pressure or heart disease and elevated rates of mental health issues.

If you or someone you love is struggling with mental health issues and would like to explore treatment options, please be in touch with me. There is no stigma in seeking help, only relief from the burdens you are currently carrying alone.
